I am a media artist and a senior researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST). I got Ph.D. (Information Science and Technology) from the University of Tokyo. I have created several artworks since the 1990s, including the permanent exhibit “A Hands-On Model of the Internet” at the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. I also launched “NicoNicoGakkai Beta,” a large-scale online research platform that connects public citizens with professional researchers (650,000 total viewers). At AIST, my research focuses on constructing services with user participation.
